Arsenal already HAVE a £40m midfield anchorman in Francis Coquelin insists Arsene Wenger

Judi Online -  Arsene Wenger reckons Francis Coquelin is playing like a £40million signing.

Defensive midfielder Coquelin has been a revelation since being recalled from a loan spell at Championship Charlton and thrown straight into the Arsenal side in December.

The Frenchman, 24, has brought some much-needed steel and balance to the Gunners engine room.

And Wenger believes the fact Coquelin cost the north Londoners nothing is a reminder to fans hungry for big-money signings that players’ price-tags are not always an indication of their ability.

He said: “The world has changed. The appreciation today of the quality of a player is just down to the money you spend.

“If we had bought Coquelin at Christmas for £40m, everyone would say ‘What a signing!’ I am sorry he didn’t cost any money, (but) he is still a good player.”

Bandar Bola - Before Coquelin’s emergence, landing a defensive midfielder was set to be a summer priority for Wenger - and it was certainly a position many Arsenal fans hoped to see strengthened.

Wenger added: “It hasn’t changed (my plans) a lot, but what is for sure he has shown he has the capacity to play for us and play a big part in the success of the team.

“Nobody would dispute that his performances have been convincing and that he is ready for a fight, even if somebody comes in.”

Coquelin has been key to Arsenal’s improved form in 2015, which has them in with a chance to pip Manchester City to second spot if they win their fnal two league games and in a second successive FA Cup Final.
